I took the kids to buy clothes yesterday after school.
A little late for back-to-school shopping, but it’s felt like summer until this week. So not a lot of demand for pants and sleeves before now.
I bought piles of clothes for each kid and one thing for myself I couldn’t resist. A tee shirt on the kids’ clearance rack that reads: Do Your Best, Let Go of the Rest. Fifty percent off of $7.99.
I share my bargain because I am not supposed to be spending money on my own clothes.
I don’t keep growing like the kids do. I can keep wearing the same clothes year after year. Especially since all I’ve really worn for most of the past few years has been 15-year-old workout wear.
I have perfected the art of drawing zero attention.
Put your hair in a ponytail and tuck it through the hole in a nondescript baseball cap. Black leggings, old sneakers, and a loose sweatshirt. Try not to let it say anything interesting. It can have a small hole or two, even a small stain—but not so many you raise eyebrow…
