My mood has had profound peaks and valleys in just this single day. I’m sitting here celebrating my ability to navigate the rollercoasters with more and more skill.

I learned a trick a few years ago. When I find myself in a mood or state of mind I want to exit, I hydrate and move. In time, I learned to hydrate, move, and write. Now whenever I feel wonky, I drink a glass of water, slip on my tennis shoes, and head out the door to walk and write until I feel balanced again.
This does mean that some of my writing—much of my writing—has started from a triggered place. It is feeling triggered that makes me hydrate, move, and write. My first lines may be extreme for this reason. Maybe even my first paragraphs. But usually by the end of a post, I have come back around to more nuanced thinking.
Trouble is, many people read just the first line and judge me for that. This could lead many people …
